Axel and Adelynn talking and smiling at each other.

Today while I was busy trying to calm my screaming daughter. Axel kept very busy amusing himself. He found the crayons and decided to redecorate the kitchen walls and floor. Then later he found the dirty clothes. I was upstairs and he came up the stairs whining. I found out why when I saw him. He had decided it would be a good idea to put two pair of underwear and a bra over his head and was now struggling to get them off. I ran to get the camera and by the time I got back he forgot he wanted them off and was busy playing in his new kitchen. The kitchen is a present for Adelynn for my parents....although it will be awhile before she plays with it. Axel loves it though in the meantime.

Our Week-end

This weekend we decided to go to my parents. Rita, Karl, Travis and Megan were also there for the weekend. Was very nice to have so many willing helpers with the kids. Was a very nice break for Kent and I. On sat. we decided to go to a pumpkin patch where the pictures below were taken. We also went to an winery and apple orchard. It was a beautiful fall day and it was great to spend most of the day outside. I wish we could just skip winter...I love all the other seasons but I'm not to fond of winter. Maybe if it was just shorter...a month or so. Just so we could get a good snow in, go sledding, ice skating and then on to spring.:)

Axel loved the tractor and would have liked to play on it the whole time but we had cows, chickens, goats, sheep and ducks to feed.

Here's one of the goats:) Axel didn't want to put his face through so mama gave it a shot.

Feeding the cows. Axel wasn't so sure this was a good idea...actually he was pretty sure it was a bad idea.:) Maybe someday he'll change his mind.

Axel the little pumpkin.

Adelynn's Birth Story

Here goes the promised birth story.
For about the last month of my pregnancy I was having lots of braxton hicks...a number of times they would make it hard for me to sleep at night and I would think maybe this is it. I would then start timing them but by morning they would taper off. On Fri. afternoon the 5th of sept. we went out to a Thai restaurant with Mike and Lois and I ordered some spicy curry. On the way out I used the bathroom and lost my plug. During the day I continued to have contractions here and there. That evening we went to Mike and Lois's to play games. It was a late night and we ended up getting home around 11:30 or so. I managed to get a few hours of sleep but was rudely awoken by intense contractions around 2am. I timed them and they continued to get worse. I went in and woke Kent up around 3am and we called the midwife. I labored for a while in the bathroom and then a little in the bedroom thinking that when the pain got a little worse I would get into the tub downstairs. Well it wasn't long before I decided to head to the tub but I didn't even make it out of our bedroom before a strong contraction hit. Then another one at the top of the stairs. Then another one before I could even get into the bathroom downstairs. Kent was helping me every step of the way. I told him after that last one that I needed to use the bathroom again. I made it into the bathroom and was sitting on the toilet when another strong contraction hit and then there was a huge gush...my water broke. Immediately afterwards I had a really really painful contraction...I just remember beating my head against the wall and trying to ride it out. Then there was really intense pressure down there and I put my hand down there to feel what was going on and there it was the head. I yelled at Kent, "I'm pushing!!" (who was on the phone with the midwife who was not yet there) and then I lost it a little and started screaming at the top of my lungs. This is when Kent came in and said, "the midwife says you need to calm down." Sitting on the toilet the pressure was just too much to take and I didn't want our girl to be born in the toilet bowl so I managed to get off with Kent's help and get on my hands and knees on the bathroom floor. I calmed myself down and Kent helped me to just breath through the pushes. It was about 3 pushes and her head was out. Then one more and our little girl was born. Kent was right there to catch her and then help me to sit so I could hold her. I held her while Kent ran to get blankets and then after a few min. decided to get into the tub. It was about 15 min later that the midwife showed up. She helped us prepare the cord so that Kent could cut it and then about an hour later I delivered the placenta. I was all a very amazing and personal experience for Kent and I. Those few min. that it was just the 3 of us on the bathroom floor were very precious. I have such an amazing husband to be so supportive and encouraging through it all. I could have never done it without him.
Immediately after the birth.
Proud Mama and Papa a few hours after the birth.

Adelynn's been cooing and smiling since a little before 5 weeks and I finally got a few pictures of her.

Axel wanted to get in on a picture also.

Today Mike and Lois are on their way to Arizona for the winter. They will be very missed.:( Things will be very different around here without them stopping in here and there to give me a break with the kids, chores and have some much needed adult company. Not to mention if Kent and I needed to get out of the house we always had their place to crash to play some games and relax. We also know that we were always going to be well fed there:) Thanks for all your help and fun times over the summer Mike and Lois. We'll miss you this winter!

Adelynn sleeping with grandpa on a lazy sunday afternoon.

Adelynn loves to be swaddled when she is ready to fall asleep so Kent thought it would be funny to swaddle Axel also. Axel thought it was fun for about 2 min and then he was all done.:)

Our new minivan. We now travel in luxury. It was quite the change from our other vehicle a Scion. We now have plenty of room for 2 kids, a dog and all our stuff.

Well here it goes. I'm going to try and start a blog. I'm really horrible at these sort of things so this should be interesting. Today Lois came over in the afternoon...we had lunch together and then Axel and her went to the park. Was nice to have some quiet time. Adelynn was napping. Axel has been pretty grumpy and loud all day today so it was a nice break. Organized the kids clothes which was very needed. They were really starting to pile up every where except in the dresser where they belong. Also gave Axel a hair cut. He was starting to look a little scrubby.
Here is our new addition Adelynn Mae. We had an amazing home birth which I'll have to share sometime in the future..I have a fussy little boy and a hungry little girl to attend to.:)
